Laura Tarcea, Hons. B.A. (Psych), LL.M (c)

Laura's private practice, Family Mediation Group, has been helping families with all divorce and separation matters. She specializes in guiding couples create equitable agreements as the groundwork for new family systems and positive post-breakup lives.

It is Laura's conviction that access to justice should not be limited by access to finances. This is one of the reasons why she founded FMRC and dedicated many hours volunteering and helping families transition through divorce or separation.  Laura places great emphasis on fairness and effectiveness of her mediation process. She is a strong believer that “one size does not fit all” and works with families to achieve optimal results for their unique circumstances.

Laura helps parents with matters, such as custody & access, child support, development of comprehensive parenting plans and linking with appropriate local resources.

Reaching a settlement is just the beginning of a new process of adjustment – for the parents and for the children. Laura is committed to working with families to safeguard their emotional wellbeing when going through and after separation or divorce.

Joan Cass, MSW, RSW, Q.Med, is a proud co-creator and the “J” in JADE Mediation Practice Group.  Joan started her journey as an ADR professional in 2015, completing the Certificate in Dispute Resolution at York University in Toronto, and then the Advanced Certificate in 2016.  At the June 2017 AGM, Joan was elected to the ADRIO Board of Directors and now sees herself as a strong voice for new Mediators like herself, building their careers in the ADR world. Currently she assists clients of the Family Law Information Centres in Toronto’s Family Courts as an Information and Referral Coordinator. She is also on the ADRIO roster for OACCAC as an Independent Complaint Facilitator. With over 30 years of experience as a hospital Social Worker and Field Instructor for MSW/BSW students, Joan is known for her exceptionally warm, empathic engagement style, her practical approach, and her passion for lifelong learning.  She is building her “Mutual Understandings” private practice focusing on her special interest in assisting older adults and their families by facilitating conversations regarding life transitions. Joan embraces a philosophy of abundance, believing that we all succeed when we cooperate, share with, and support each other.

Eva Iole DiGiammarino is a lawyer dedicated to working with families experiencing high conflict divorce and separation. 

For many years, Eva volunteered as a community mediator for youth living in the Jane and Finch area of Toronto. Inspired by the power of mediation to resolve conflicts peacefully, Eva obtained her law degree so that she could assist individuals locked in legal disputes. 

Eva's unique background as a sexual assault support counsellor allows her to have the special skills necessary to work with clients who have experienced physical and emotional trauma. 

Eva works as both a litigator and mediator in Vaughan, Ontario. She practices family law, civil litigation and wills & estates. Eva  also offers services in fertility law.


Jim Fitch, M.A, LL.B., Acc. FM, PC

Jim is a facilitative Accredited Family Mediator and Parenting Coordinator, with a high degree of expertise working with families who have experienced intimate partner violence, families in transition having members with serious mental health challenges, and members of the LGBT community. Jim is a recognized authority on ethics and professional conduct for family dispute resolution professionals.

Courtney Pyszynski, B.A., ADR

Courtney Pyszynski has a passion for helping individuals and families transition through challenges in a positive manner! She has always known that she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.

Courtney started off her educational career by completing her B. A. in Psychology and continued on by pursuing Mediation - Alternative Dispute Resolution, a post-graduate certificate. Courtney has also completed courses such as Family Mediation and Community Mediation.

Courtney spends countless hours volunteering with children; working with them through the conflicts they may face at school, or at home. She has previously worked closely with grade 7 and 8 students, undergoing conflict resolution skills and managing conflicts in their lives.

Courtney is currently a member of Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (ADRIO), and is working towards obtaining her Family Mediator Accreditation.

Rachael Whitzman, Hons. B.Sc. (Psych), Cert. in ADR, NLP Practitioner

Rachael Whitzman is a mediator from Halifax, Nova Scotia, passionate about exploring the many aspects of conflict in the family and everyday life. Her background in psychology and neurolinguistic programming has given her a more mindful and psychological approach to conflict resolution. 
Rachael graduated from the Humber Alternative Dispute Resolution certificate program. She has had the opportunity to speak about conflict with the High School population and has mediated cases at the Sheppard Small Claims Superior Court of Justice. She also developed and handled the disputes department for a fitness studio in downtown Toronto. 
In addition to mediation, Rachael is assisting in the production of Straight Talk Family Law Radio hosted by Laura Tarcea and Marty Klein, and Mediation Station hosted by Gregg Fenten. 

Daniella Wald  J.D., Acc. F.M.

Daniella has practiced exclusively in the area of family law for almost ten years. During her years practicing family law in the traditional way, she developed a strong interest in both Collaborative Practice and Family Mediation, recognizing them as better process options for most families.

Her focus is on helping clients create their own out-of-court settlements through negotiation advocacy, collaborative practice and comprehensive family mediation. She also acts as a parenting coordinator (a mediator and arbitrator of parenting disputes), helping parents improve communication and co-parenting skills so they can successfully implement their parenting plans and separation agreements.
